Video shows man trapped by mower under water freed by first responders in Oklahoma

Firefighters and a police officer in Edmond, Oklahoma rescued a man who had been trapped under a riding lawnmower in a pond on Thursday night, video shows.

A resident called 911 and Edmond Police Officer Chase Thackerson responded to the scene to find the man stuck under the mower with his head two inches above the water, Storyful reported. Thackerson stayed with the man, helping him steady his head above water until firefighters were able to get to the scene.

“I’m thinking the worst,” Thackerson told KOCO. “I’ve gotta get in here and if he’s underneath there, I’m gonna have to go down and I’m going to have to find him.”

As seen in the video, the firefighters were able to lift the mower off the man, freeing him. Police told Storyful that the man suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
