Zoom back online after reporting partial outages worldwide
Zoom was not working Monday morning for many of its users, according to the video conferencing company.
The company wrote about the “partial outage” on its status page at 8:51 a.m. Monday. It said it had “received reports of users being unable to visit the Zoom website (Zoom.us) and unable to start and join Zoom meetings and webinars.”
Zoom, a popular video chat platform used in classrooms and businesses across the United States, wrote at 9:50 a.m. it identified the issue, and the problem was fixed by early afternoon.
It also responded to some social media users who said they were having problems with their accounts.
The website DownDetector.com showed users across most of the eastern half of the U.S. reported outages. Other countries were also affected.
The outage was first reported before 8 a.m. Monday, according to Down Detector.
Zoom posted updates about the issue at status.zoom.us. It was unclear how many people the outage affected.
The platform has grown in popularity this year as millions of Americans have worked from home and attended school online during the coronavirus pandemic.
