Take a break and watch these adorable brown bear cubs snuggle up at the beach
Two bear cubs took a rest in an incredibly adorable way.
The Lake Clark National Park and Preserve in Alaska posted a video on Facebook on Tuesday of two brown bear cubs snuggling up to each other on a beach.
“The bear closest to the camera is sitting up with its nose twitching while the second bear snuggles its back,” the park said. “Then the closest bear then lies down and puts its paw over its face.”
The bears cuddle together in what looks like a very peaceful moment.
Alaska is home to about 95% of America’s brown bear population, and Lake Clark has a healthy and stable population, the park said.
“The Alaskan National Interest Lands Conservation Act directs the park to protect habitat for brown bears among other fish and wildlife species,” Lake Clark said. “Therefore, park biologists survey coastal bear populations annually and are currently conducting a study to better understand dynamics of the interior population of brown bears.”
Estuaries where rivers and sea meet are “urban centers of the bear world,” Lake Clark said. Bears gather there in large numbers to eat and mate.
“Park biologists have counted as many as 219 brown bears within a 54 square mile area on the coast in recent years,” the park said. “There are few other places in the world where you can find as many bears living in such a small area. This is possible because they are more tolerant of the presence of each-other, of other wildlife, and often of people than they are in places where there is less food. In order to avoid most conflict, these naturally solitary animals establish a fluid hierarchy when gathered together.”
