Actor out on bond after rape charge shoots woman, then kills himself, Kentucky cops say
A Kentucky man with numerous acting credits shot the mother of his child before killing himself Tuesday in a residence, according to police.
Hagen Mills, 29, appeared in a 2016 episode of FX’s “Baskets” and had at least nine other acting appearances prior to the attempted murder-suicide in Western Kentucky.
Mayfield police said Mills was holding Erica Price’s mother and young daughter in a residence until she returned. When the 34-year-old Price entered the home, she was shot by Mills and he then shot himself, police say.
The young girl and Price’s mother were uninjured during the incident, according to police. Price suffered gunshot wounds to her arm and chest and is listed in stable condition, police said.
Mills was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Mayfield police.
The actor, who is slated to appear in the independent horror film “Star Light” this summer, had been released from jail on a $250,000 bond after an arrest last month. Kentucky court records show Mills is accused of four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, assault (domestic violence), kidnapping an adult, kidnapping a minor and wanton endangerment. The case was sent to the grand jury.
As a part of his bond that he posted this week, Mills was ordered to not use or possess firearms or any other weapons, court records show. He is also facing numerous drug charges stemming from his April arrest.
Mills is from Murray in Western Kentucky and began acting in short films in 2011, his Internet Movie Database page shows. In addition to an appearance in “Baskets,” he had a role in the 2013 television movie “Bonnie & Clyde: Justified.”
In a statement to WPSD, “Star Light” producer Cheryl Dillard Starulakis said they were “shocked and saddened” about the incident.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to Hagen’s family and his daughter and all others impacted by this tragic day,” she stated.
His mother told TMZ he loved acting, “but his true passion was his 4-year-old daughter.”
