Free beer for those turning 21 in 2020. But there’s a catch — it’s Natty Light

Natural Light is offering a free beer worth up to $8 for anyone turning 21 this year, the company announced on Twitter.

Natural Light — aka Natty Light, the beer of the frat star and beer pong champion — is giving away free beer.

It’s currently ranked No. 1 on RateBeer.com for the worst beer in the world, followed by its close cousin Natural Ice and the equally unloved Milwaukee’s Best Premium.

But it’s free, so as Hillary Duff would say in Disney’s classic “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” — why not?

Natural Light doesn’t allow anyone under 21 on its website, so here’s the gist: buy a Natural Light Family product — including Naturdays — in participating states and you can apply for a rebate.

The promotion is known as the “Natty 21st Birthday Rebate.”

So what are the stipulations?

1. You must be born between Jan. 1, 1999 and Dec. 31, 1999 and thus turning 21 this year.

2. The beer can’t cost more than $8 (maybe a 12-pack if you can find it on sale)

3. The purchase should be made on or after your birthday.

4. Only one submission per address will be accepted.

5. You must live in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan. Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin or Wyoming.

6. All requests must be submitted by Jan. 14, 2021.

7. Employees of Anheuser-Busch and its affiliates are not eligible.

That’s it. Buy a beer, send in your receipt or a UPC code and wait six to eight weeks for your rebate.

The promotion has left a lot of people wondering where this was on their 21st birthday. But Natural Light didn’t have much sympathy on Twitter.

“24 is a big deal too. Where’s my beer? #BrandLoyalty,” one person asked.

Beer section, aisle 2,” Natty responded.

Another questioned whether they could “workout a deal where I get a natty daddy when I become a dad.”

“Nice try,” was all Natty had for them.

Someone else thought they’d try flattery: “I’m not turning 21 and it’s not my birthday but you guys think you could send me a case. I love you.”

To which Natty said, “How about our love and affection.”

The beer giant had no patience for this person trying to skirt the rules.

“I’m turning 21 for like the 25th time. Doesn’t that count? It’s like an anniversary or something.”

“No.”

It also had nothing to say to the guy who asked “what about a 31 year old with a mortgage and a mountain of student loan debt?”

But it’s OK because someone else hit everyone with the cold, hard truth:
