Two lottery tickets worth $4.5 million are unclaimed in Mississippi. Time is running out.
Time is running out for two very lucky lottery winners in Mississippi. A Powerball ticket worth $4 million and a Mega Millions ticket worth $500,000 have gone unclaimed for months.
Winning tickets for drawings expire after 180 days. Winning scratch off tickets have an even shorter lifespan of 90 days.
The $500,000 ticket was purchased for an August drawing and expires on Feb. 9. The ticket was sold at a Broadway Mart in McComb on Aug.13. The player matched all five white ball numbers, but not the Powerball number. The extra $1 for the Powerplay changed a $100,000 jackpot to $500,000.
The $4 million dollar Mega Millions winner has a few months to contemplate. The ticket is for a drawing held Jan. 3. The ticket was purchased at Byram Chevron in Byram and expires July 2.
Similarly, the winning Mega Millions ticket matched all five white ball numbers, but not the Megaball number. The player even paid the extra $1 for the Megaplier option, turning the $1 million prize into a $4 million prize.
No one hit Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot. The current jackpot is estimated at $1.335 billion with a cash value of $707.9 million.
The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday, Jan. 11, is an estimated $360 million, with an estimated cash value of $188.7 million.
