Biloxi man was one number away from $1.28 billion Mega Millions jackpot. What he won.

A Biloxi man was one number away from winning $1.28 billion in the July 29 Mega Millions drawing.

The Mississippi Lottery Corporation announced the winner this week. Of all of the tickets sold in the state, he came the closest to winning.

Matching four of the five numbers plus the megaplier with a single quick pick ticket, the Biloxi resident earned $20,000. He bought the winning ticket from Clark Oil Company on Judge Sekul Ave. in Biloxi on the afternoon of the drawing.

Another lottery winner found her luck playing in the Mississippi Match 5’s Aug. 9 drawing. The Mobile woman won $60,000 on one of five quick pick tickets she purchased from the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville.

The estimated jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions draw is $99 million. Mississippi Match 5’s $73,000 drawing will be Thursday.
