$100K winning lottery ticket sold on the Mississippi Coast
Three $100,000 lottery jackpots hit in Mississippi in August, and one of the winning tickets was sold on the Coast.
It wasn’t necessarily a “life changing” jackpot the winners of the big Powerball drawings see. Mississippi Lottery Corp. said in a press release Friday the person won $100,000 on a Powerball ticket with Powerplay.
The winning ticket was purchased at Murphy Oil on Sangani Boulevard in D’Iberville.
A Simpson County player also won $100,000 on a Powerball ticket with Powerplay in Brandon and a third person won $100,000 on a “Break the Bank” scratch-off game purchased in Laurel.
Another large winning ticket for $18,000 on the Electric 8s scratch-off game was sold in August at Railroad Food Mart in Long Beach.
The first Powerball and Mega Millions tickets went on sale Jan. 30 in Mississippi. Winners in the state can remain anonymous, according to Mississippi regulations.
Mississippi Lottery Corp. announced in a press release Friday the transfer of $8.2 million in net proceeds to the state treasury for August sales.
The first $80 million in lottery net proceeds each year goes to infrastructure to repair roads and bridges, and once that is reached, the proceeds go to schools.
