JACKSON COUNTY -- Emergency crews will be cleaning a diesel spill until about 10 a.m. Monday on Interstate 10 near Exit 57.
The cleanup is on a westbound lane and the roadside.
An 18-wheeler hit something in the road and it punctured one of his fuel tanks, said Earl Etheridge, director of Jackson County Emergency Management.
It happened in a westbound lane just before Exit 57. The 18-wheeler's driver pulled over on the side of the road. Etheridge said.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation issued an advisory about 6:20 a.m. that the right westbound lane was closed.
Traffic at first was snarled.
"Except for rubber-neckers, there should be no impact on traffic, Etheridge said about 7 a.m.
