Gulfport man killed in Mississippi 53 crash

HANCOCK COUNTY -- A Gulfport man was killed early Saturday morning after a single-car crash on Mississippi 53.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokseman Chase Elkins said Saturday the crash was reported about 2:30 a.m.

Apparently, a vehicle driven by Michael Hornberger, 26, was near the Hancock-Harrison county line on 53 when his car left the road and caught fire.

Hornberger died after he was unable to get out, Hancock County Corner Jim Faulk said Saturday.

No further details were immediately available. MHP is investigating the accident.
