FORREST COUNTY -- A 19-year-old from Ocean Springs was ejected in a single-car crash on U.S. 49 south of Brooklyn and died Monday morning, a Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Sierra A. Jones was northbound in a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier that ran off the highway and collided with trees, MHP Master Sgt. Brent Barfield said.
"For some undetermined reason, she left the roadway to the right," Barfield said.
The 9:49 a.m. crash occurred between Brooklyn and Mississippi 13. Jones was not wearing a seat belt, he said.

Jones had a University of Southern Mississippi identification card in her wallet, but it wasn't immediately clear if she was currently enrolled, Barfield said.
Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem said she died at the scene of her injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
