Pedestrian killed trying to cross U.S. 49

GULFPORT -- A pedestrian was killed early Friday morning while attempting to walk across U.S. 49 just north of Landon Road.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was hit by a truckwhile crossing the highway about 1:30 a.m.

Hargrove said the victim died at the scene.

Gulfport police Sgt. Damon McDaniel said no arrests were made in connection with the accident.
