Coroner IDs man killed in head-on crash on Pass Road

BILOXI -- A head-on collision on Pass Road killed one driver and sent another driver and a passenger to a hospital, police said.

The crash about 1:30 p.m. Monday occurred between Bay Vista Baptist Church and the Bay Vista Fire Station. The area is just east of MacArthur Avenue and a couple of blocks west of Popp's Ferry Road.

Witnesses reported seeing a westbound white Ford Mustang drift into an eastbound lane and strike a Chevrolet Silverado head-on, police patrolman Darrell Montiforte said.

The driver of the Mustang appeared to have critical injuries, he said. Both drivers and a passenger were transported by ambulance to Merit Health hospital.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the driver of the Mustang, Eric Graves, 44, of Moss Point, was pronounced dead around 2:35 p.m. at the hospital.

Police re-opened westbound lanes in a little more than an hour, followed by eastbound lanes.

The speed limit in the area is 35 mph.

A police spokesman said it would take a few days for accident reconstruction studies to be completed.
