Two Coast men die in Jackson County accident

JACKSON COUNTY -- Two South Mississippi men died Sunday night in a collision on Daisy Vestry Road, Deputy Coroner Jason Moody said.

He identified them as Michael Drieling, 34, of Ocean Springs, and his passenger, Frank Mares, 40, of Biloxi.

They were southbound in a pickup that collided with a northbound pickup, but it didn't appear to be a head-on collision, he said. One of the trucks struck the other truck on its side.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. between Johnson Still and Cook roads.

The driver and passenger in the other pickup had minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Drieling's body will be sent to Jackson for an autopsy.

The Jackson County Sheriff's office is investigating.
