Crash with injuries holds up Cowan-Lorraine traffic

One person was injured in a crash that tied up southbound traffic on Cowan-Lorraine Road on Thursday morning.

Gulfport police said at 8:39 a.m., a southbound GMC Sierra collided with a Toyota Camry that was attempting to turn north from Morningside Drive.

Gulfport Fire Rescue and American Medical Response were dispatched to the scene to assess injuries, a press release said.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries received during the crash. The driver of the pickup was treated at the scene.

Southbound traffic was backed up to the top of Wilkes Bridge because the crashed had the right lane blocked.
