Moss Point 4-year-old injured in crash, airlifted

A Moss Point 4-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash Friday morning.

Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the crash, on Mississippi 63 just south of the George County line, about 10:45 a.m.

A Dodge Charger driven by Xavier Preston Dickerson, 23, of Mobile, rear-ended a Hyundai Accent driven by John Phillip Cole, 64, of Lucedale, just as the Hyundai turned northbound, said MHP Cpl. Benjamin Seibert.

Neither Cole nor his passenger was injured. Dickerson, a front-seat passenger and a 1-year-old in the backseat were also uninjured.

Jessica Fielder, 36, of Moss Point, who was in the back seat of the Dodge, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Taylen Fielder, 4, was taken by helicopter to USA Medical Center in Mobile with life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
