I-10 shuts down, opens up after vehicle, grass fire

A recreational vehicle caught fire on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Interstate 10 near the Menge Avenue exit in Pass Christian on Sunday, igniting a grass fire that produced so much smoke that officials shut down the east and westbound lanes of the interstate for about 30 minutes, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Cpl. Benjamin Seibert said the fire was reported at 3:13 p.m..

Seibert did not immediately know of any injuries.

All lanes of traffic opened shortly after 4 p.m.
