Update: One person killed in crash on I-10, MHP official confirms

4:35 p.m.: The person injured in the crash Friday afternoon has died, Trooper Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol, confirmed.

4:30 p.m.: One person suffered critical injuries the crash that briefly closed all eastbound lanes on I-10 in Harrison County. Orozco said crash reconstruction is ongoing, and two eastbound lanes remain closed.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reporting that the two right lanes of Interstate 10 eastbound are blocked in Harrison County.

At 3:37 p.m. MDOT reported a crash at the County Farm Road interchange (Exit 28). MDOT cameras show traffic at a near standstill.

MDOT says it could take up to an hour before normal traffic flow is restored and is advising drivers to avoid the area.
