A crash between an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle is causing major traffic delays on Interstate 10 in South Mississippi.
At least one person was injured and taken to a hospital, according to Trooper Landon Orozco, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. In addition, MDEQ is on the way to the scene to deal with leakage from the 18-wheeler.
All eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed at 5:35 a.m. after the crash between the Gautier-Vancleave Road exit (Exit 61) and the Highway 613 exit (Exit 68), according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation. At 7:45 a.m., one lane of the interstate was closed, according to Orozco, but all lanes may need to be closed soon to clear the scene.
MDOT estimates it could take up to an hour to clear the scene.
