MHP identifies South MS motorcyclist killed in crash on Interstate 10

Christian Villa, a 26-year-old from Gulfport, was killed Tuesday morning in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 10 in Jackson County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Gautier police notified the Mississippi Highway Patrol of the crash around 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to Trooper Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the agency. Villa, who was driving a 2017 Kawasaki ZR90, was thrown from the motorcycle when it ran off the roadway and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remained closed until about 6 a.m. There was a subsequent closure of the road around 7 a.m. to allow for accident reconstruction by police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
