Update: Crash that backed traffic up from South MS into Alabama has been cleared

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reporting that westbound lanes of Interstate 10 are backed up Friday from Mississippi into Alabama.

At 6:27 p.m., MDOT reported a crash near the Franklin Creek Road interchange (Exit 75) in Jackson County. The MDOT live traffic tracker shows the backup extends several miles into Alabama.

MDOT says it could take up to an hour before normal traffic flow is restored and is advising drivers to avoid the area.
