Update: Backup cleared after crash on busy stretch of I-10 in South Mississippi

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reporting that a crash on the long bridge over the Pascagoula River has caused a significant backup on I-10 in Jackson County.

At 11:07 a.m. MDOT reported a crash in an eastbound lane at the 65-mile marker between the Gautier-Vancleave Road exit (Exit 61) and the Highway 613 exit (Exit 68). MDOT cameras show traffic at a near standstill at the Gautier-Vancleave Road interchange.

MDOT says it could take up to an hour before normal traffic flow is restored and is advising drivers to avoid the area.
