ORIGINAL STORY

Roadwork just over the state line in Alabama is causing “major delays” on Interstate 10 eastbound in South Mississippi, the Mississippi Department of Transportation reports.

The construction project is expected to last all day, MDOT says, with significant traffic backups through at least 4 p.m. for I-10 drivers. The state of Alabama reports that the left eastbound lane is closed and advises travelers to use caution.

MDOT’s traffic map shows congestion of about three miles, from around mile marker 1 in Alabama and extending west of the Franklin Creek Road exit (Exit 75) in Mississippi.
