I-10 reopened in South Mississippi after truck rolled in Hancock County

9:40 a.m.: All lanes of I-10 eastbound have reopened at the site of Friday morning’s crash, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The backup remains extensive.

9:35 a.m.: The backup on I-10 has reached eight miles, back to the Interstate 59 exchange in Louisiana, according to the MDOT traffic map.

9:30 a.m.: No injuries were reported from the crash in Pearl River County, according to Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. MDOT estimates it could take until around noon to clear the scene. Traffic is currently slowed in both directions.

8:28 a.m.: A second crash is causing trouble on the roads in the western parts of South Mississippi. An 18-wheeler has rolled over on Highway 43 in Pearl River County, north of Ramsey Hall Road, according to Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Motorists are advised to use caution in the area.

7:36 a.m.: The left lane has been reopened and traffic is slowly moving through the scene of Friday’s single-vehicle crash on I-10 in Hancock County.

7:20 a.m.: A box truck overturned on I-10 eastbound in Hancock County and all eastbound lanes will remain closed for about another hour, according to Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The driver was taken to a hospital with injuries.

6:55 a.m.: The MDOT traffic map shows the I-10 eastbound backup before the Waveland exit (Exit 2), has reached the border with Louisiana.

ORIGINAL STORY

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reporting that all eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 are closed in Hancock County.

At 6:09 a.m. MDOT reported an overturned vehicle before the Waveland exit (Exit 2). MDOT’s traffic map shows a significant delay has formed.

MDOT says it could take up to three hours before normal traffic flow is restored and is advising drivers to avoid the area.
