Update: Crash cleared, I-10 eastbound traffic again moving in South Mississippi
9:35 a.m.: The crash that briefly closed all I-10 eastbound lanes has been cleared and traffic is getting back up to speed.
9:20 a.m.: The right lane of I-10 eastbound has been reopened, according to MDOT. The agency says it could still be up to an hour before normal traffic flow is restored and continues to recommend that drivers use alternate routes.
9 a.m.: MDOT reports all eastbound lanes are closed and is estimating it could take up to another hour and a half before normal traffic flow is restored in Jackson County. The crash near mile marker 65 has traffic backed up beyond the Gautier-Vancleave Road exit (Exit 61),
ORIGINAL STORY
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is reporting that the right eastbound lane of Interstate 10 is closed in Jackson County.
At 8:29 a.m. MDOT reported a crash between the Gautier-Vancleave Road exit (Exit 61) and the Highway 613 exit (Exit 68). MDOT cameras show traffic at a near standstill at the Gautier-Vancleave Road intersection.
MDOT says it could take up to two hours before normal traffic flow is restored and is advising drivers to avoid the area.
