Update: I-10W reopens on MS Coast after camper trailer crash, MHP says

All westbound lanes on Interstate 10 near Long Beach closed for nearly an hour on Friday after a car pulling a camper jackknifed in the road, authorities said.

The crash near Exit 28 closed the interstate after 1:30 p.m. and the Mississippi Department of Transportation estimated delays could last an hour and a half.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said at 2:15 p.m. that the right lane had reopened. The crash cleared by 4:20 p.m.

At least one person was trapped inside the camper Friday afternoon, said Landon Orozco, a spokesperson for the Highway Patrol. Authorities rescued the occupants by 1:43 p.m. and reported only minor injuries.

Authorities were still working around 2:30 p.m. to clear the camper, which disconnected from its frame after the jackknife.

“It basically just came apart,” Orozco said.
