Part of busy MS Coast road closes after car hits fire hydrant, causing flooding
Part of Pass Road in Biloxi closed Monday after a car hit a fire hydrant, flooding the street.
The city reported just before 2:30 p.m. that the car driving east hit the fire hydrant at Popp’s Ferry Road.
By 3:20 p.m., all lanes of Pass Road from Popp’s Ferry Road to Rich Avenue were closed because of flooding.
The closure was causing moderate backups Monday afternoon, according to a Mississippi Department of Transportation traffic map.
It is unclear when the road will reopen. Biloxi Police Lt. Candace Young said no one was hurt in the accident.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
