ORIGINAL STORY
Multiple crashes on I-10 westbound near the Louisiana border on Friday have caused a backup of more than four miles for late-afternoon drivers, according to MDOT.
The first crash was reported around 4 p.m., with MDOT suggesting it could take up to an hour for traffic to return to normal. At 5 p.m., MDOT reported there were multiple crashes and urged drivers to use caution when approaching the area. Delays are expected to last for up to an hour.
MDOT’s live traffic tracker shows the backup extending well into Mississippi. With the closure of the West Pearl River Bridge on U.S. 90, there are no other options for I-10 West travelers into Louisiana.
