Update: Crash, long backup on I-10 slows South MS drivers in morning of delays

10:30 a.m.: MDOT is reporting significant delays for eastbound I-10 travelers after a crash just past Exit 13 in Hancock County. The delay stretches for nearly three miles to Exit 16 (Yacht Club Road). MDOT estimates delays could last up to an hour.

9:45 a.m.: MDOT reports the concrete spill on I-10 near the Menge Avenue exit has been cleared.

9:13 a.m.: Traffic on I-110 has returned to normal speed, according to MDOT’s live traffic tracker.

9:05 a.m.: After originally reporting that debris cleanup could last to 9:30 a.m., MDOT now says it expects cleanup of the concrete spill on I-10 near Exit 24 (Menge Avenue) will last until 10 a.m. MDOT says eastbound and westbound drivers should expect delays.

8:55 a.m.: MDOT reports the crash on I-10 at Exit 38 has been cleared and traffic reports show delays have significantly lessened.

8:40 a.m.: A third problem has cropped up for Tuesday morning drivers on the Mississippi Coast, according to MDOT. A crash on I-110 South, just before Exit 1D (Bayview Avenue) has backed traffic up beyond the Rodriguez Street exit.

8:30 a.m.: MDOT is reporting a concrete spill on I-10 at the Menge Avenue exit (Exit 24) is affecting eastbound and westbound travelers. Drivers are urged to use caution, and MDOT reports delays could last for up to an hour.

ORIGINAL STORY

A crash caused backups Tuesday morning on Interstate 10 in Gulfport.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation reported the crash in the westbound lanes just before Exit 38 and warned drivers delays could last 50 minutes.

An MDOT traffic map showed backups between the exit and Shriners Boulevard around 8 a.m.
