Busy MS Coast bridge stuck open at rush hour, causing backups. What we know
Traffic stalled on Monday in Gulfport after the Wilkes Bridge got stuck open, authorities said.
The draw bridge was stuck upright around 5 p.m. as Mississippi Department of Transportation crews worked to solve the problem, said Anna Ehrgott, a spokesperson for the agency.
Gulfport Police said traffic would be diverted down Seaway Road or Hillcrest Road and asked drivers to avoid the area.
An MDOT traffic map showed Lorraine Road was backed up between Pass Road and Interstate 10.
