Update: Westbound I-10 drivers in South MS finding problems in 2 counties
4:30 p.m.: Along with the problems in Hancock County, you can add Harrison County to the list of I-10 slowdowns. The roadwork happening at Exit 38 (Lorraine Cowan Road) has forced a lane closure which is slowing westbound traffic all the way to Shriners Boulevard / Old Highway 67 (Exit 41).
3:15 p.m.: MDOT reports that one crash has been cleared and eastbound traffic is again moving without delays. Significant backups, though, remain for westbound traffic.
ORIGINAL STORY
Backups are slogging traffic in both directions of Interstate 10 after crashes on Friday, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.
Authorities closed the westbound right lane near Exit 13 in Hancock County after a Fed Ex truck ran off the road. Bay St. Louis Police Chief Alvin Kingston said the driver was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
MDOT said at 12:50 p.m. that delays near Exit 13 could last three hours.
The agency also reported a crash Friday afternoon at Exit 20 in Harrison County and said eastbound delays could last an hour.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
