Busy intersection among closures that will affect Coast drivers this week
A busy Harrison County intersection will be closed the week of April 28, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors says.
The intersection at Landon and Canal roads will be closed to all traffic through at least Friday, May 2, depending on weather conditions. This closure is part of the project with the goal of improving local infrastructure.
Officials urge drivers to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
The closure isn’t the only one that will affect Coast motorists this week.
Hanshaw Road bridge: The City of Ocean Springs says Jackson County is expected to begin work Monday. The city says the county is estimating that it will take 6 weeks to complete repairs. After those repairs are complete, the work to re-attach the utilities to the bridge is expected to begin. Once all work is complete, the state will still need to reinspect the bridge before it can reopen.
Government Street: In Ocean Springs, Government Street will be closed to through-traffic from Bellande Avenue to Russell Avenue from 8 to 11 a.m. for tree trimming.
