I-10 reopens after several crashes involving 18-wheeler shut down busy South MS bridge

Multiple collisions between cars and an 18-wheeler on Tuesday evening briefly closed both westbound lanes of Interstate 10 on the Pascagoula River Bridge, authorities said.

Traffic stopped on the bridge by 5 p.m. and neither lane had reopened by 5:45 p.m., a Mississippi Department of Transportation camera showed. Traffic appeared to start inching forward in one lane at 5:50 p.m. The Mississippi Highway Patrol said just before 6 p.m. that both lanes had reopened.

Highway Patrol Trooper Landon Orozco said one of the crashes left at least one person with minor injuries.

He said authorities were on the scene and wreckers were in route just before 5 p.m.
