Authorities identify two people killed this week after separate car crashes in South MS
Authorities have identified two people who died in separate car crashes this week in South Mississippi.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol said one person died in a crash at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 10 in Hancock County. A Toyota Camry was driving east and ran off the road, a news release said.
The Highway Patrol identified the victim as Dwayne Hogan, 37, of Marrero, Louisiana. He was driving the car and died at the scene.
Authorities said a passenger in the car was not hurt.
The Highway Patrol said a separate crash killed one person at 9:05 a.m. Thursday on Highway 57 in Jackson County. A Ford F-150 going south on Highway 57 hit a Nissan Sentra that was driving north, authorities said.
The Highway Patrol identified the victim as Jeff Cowart, 58, of Gautier. Cowart was driving the Sentra and died at the scene.
Authorities said a passenger was brought to a hospital with serious injuries.
