Bridge under repair near future MS Coast Buc-ee’s has reopening date. It’s soon.

The Menge Avenue bridge will reopen on Monday — more than a year after it closed for construction near the future Buc-ee’s Travel Center.

The bridge will open sometime in the afternoon, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said in a news release.

The bridge, which crosses I-10 at Exit 24, has been closed since summer 2023, when Harrison County began construction to replace the overpass and widen the ramps. The construction led to periodic lane closures and some traffic delays. It also forced drivers to detour.

Construction continues along the Menge Avenue overpass over Interstate 10 in Pass Christian on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024.

Harrison County funded the $15 million construction project to prepare for an influx of traffic at Exit 24, which is soon expected to fill with thousands of cars that will come to fill up on gas and explore Buc-ee’s.

Buc-ee’s has said the store will open in spring 2025 but has not yet announced a date.
