Emergency repairs to CSX railroad tracks to close part of highway in downtown Gulfport
Those who drive U.S. 49 into Gulfport may want to take a different route Friday, May 17.
Southbound lands will be closed on U.S. 49 (25th Avenue) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., near Pop Brothers in the downtown.
The closure is for CSX Transportation to make emergency repairs to the railroad tracks.
Northbound lanes will remain open to traffic during the work.
Mississippi Department of Transportation will assist in managing traffic.
Drivers can avoid the area by taking 30th Avenue on the west side of U.S. 49 or 23rd or 24th Avenue on the east side to U.S. 90 and the beach.
