Body, vehicle recovered from Jackson County lake, sheriff says
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said the body of a man missing since Saturday night was recovered Monday morning.
Ezell said the body of Matthew Sloan, 32, was found inside a Jeep Cherokee vehicle that was discovered Sunday night submerged in Parker’s Lake.
“The vehicle was found in the lake off of Wade-Vancleave Road,” Ezell said. “It appears that Sloan hit the guardrail and went over the bridge.”
He said Wade-Vancleave Road was closed as the Jeep Cherokee was removed.
Ezell said some associates of Sloan said he had been missing since Saturday night.
He said deputies spotted a couple of men on the Pascagoula River Bridge on Wade-Vancleave Road with flashlights Sunday night.
“The men told the deputies that there was a vehicle in the river and they had a good idea of who it was,” he said.
