Two women died Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident at U.S. 49 and South Swan Road, the Gulfport Police Department reports.

Police said that one person died, and they reported a second injured person dead at 4:57 p.m.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the car’s driver, Ernestine Lee, 81, of Saucier, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. She was wearing her seatbelt, Hargove said.

He said Linda Dubose, 73, of Gulfport, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Dubose was taken to Garden Park Hospital, where she died from blunt force trauma injuries.
