A 71-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Mississippi 607 in Hancock County about 10 p.m. Monday.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Chase Elkins said the crash happened near Mississippi 604.

Elkins said the driver, identified by Hancock County Coroner Jim Faulk as John Banach, was driving a 2013 Ford Fiesta southbound on Mississippi 607 when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2008 Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Silverado, a 21-year-old from Slidell, was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport with non-life threatening injuries, Elkins said.

Faulk said he is awaiting results of a toxicology report.
