Coroner releases name of Kiln man killed in crash on Mississippi 603

A Kiln man was ejected from his car Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash on Mississippi 603 and died at the scene, officials said.

The driver, who had no passengers, was 39-year-old Daniel Seawright, County Coroner Jim Faulk said.

The crash occurred about 7:50 p.m. near Road 352, about five miles north of Mississippi 43, said Public Affairs Officer Chase Elkins of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

An initial investigation indicates Seawright was northbound in a 2006 Honda and lost control of the car, Elkins said. The car went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Seawright was not wearing a seat belt, Elkins said.

The crash remains under investigation.

The crash was the county’s second fatality on Tuesday night.

Laurie Jones, 47, and her two children were struck by a car on Kiln-DeLisle Road as they were leaving a school Christmas program. Jones died at the scene. Her boys were injured.
