Two people were injured Monday in a single-car accident in Harrison County.
County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said the vehicle was traveling in the southbound lanes of U.S. 49 about noon when it left the road and hit a traffic light pole.
It took about 30 minutes for first-responders to extricate the passenger from the vehicle. The passenger, a female, was then taken to a trauma center.
The male driver was injured in the accident, Sullivan said.
Harrison County Fire Service, Saucier firefighters, Combat Readiness Training Center and AMR responded to the scene.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
