A tow truck removed a stuck 18-wheeler trailer from danger on a railroad crossing in Long Beach on Friday afternoon.

A Dollar General trailer got stuck on the crossing at Beach Park Drive and East Railroad Street.

Long Beach police Lt. Kipper Thomas said the truck’s driver had just finished making a delivery and had the trailer’s landing gear down, which got stuck on the tracks.

Thomas said an 18-wheeler tow truck was used to haul the tractor-trailer from the crossing.

Long Beach police cited the driver for disregard of a traffic-control device, a traffic violation, for driving on a clearly marked no-truck route.

Officials from CSX Transportation inspected the tracks but found no damage. The incident did not affect train traffic, Thomas said.

Former Gulfport Police Chief Alan Weatherford provided a picture of the stuck 18-wheeler.
