The Starbucks coming to Ocean Springs will be the first, full stand-alone Starbucks in Jackson County.

The little kiosk inside Singing River Hospital's HealthPlex in Pascagoula that serves Starbucks coffee and has limited hours doesn't compare.

This one will have the food. This one will be able to take gift cards. This one will have drive-thru. This one will be a full Starbucks -- the real deal.

There's already enough excitement in Jackson County that the contractor in LaPlace, La., has gotten calls from other contractors who heard about it and just wanted to make sure it was happening.

Reporter Anita Lee expressed dismay that it's going up considerably east of downtown Ocean Springs.

But she lives in Biloxi and has the luxury of passing a Starbucks in the Golden Nugget before she gets to Ocean Springs.

I'm guessing that Golden Nugget Starbucks is why they put this one on the east side of town.

In all of Jackson County, the first.

The contractor, when I called, kidded me saying, "you guys are going to have a Starbucks and a Cane's, together."
