Volunteers are needed Saturday to remove the wreaths placed at Biloxi National Cemetery during the holidays.

More than 1,000 volunteers helped place 20,000 wreaths on the graves during the Laying of the Wreaths on Dec. 2. Now it’s time to remove them.

Volunteers should arrive at Biloxi National Cemetery off Pass Road at 8 a.m. Saturday.

“The Laying of the Wreaths is a special way to honor those who served, and we have been very happy to carry on this tradition for five years,” said Chad Riemann, president of Riemann Family Funeral Homes. “We could not do it without the volunteers. Removal of the wreaths is a necessary part of this service, and we hope people will join us to help conclude the 2017 Laying of the Wreaths.”
