Larry Russell, known to his friends as Capt. Fox because of his gray hair and his tour-boat activities, is also remembered as an excellent chef.
"I want to write a cookbook and title it 'In Memory of Capt. Fox, a Katrina Victim,' " said Chorlet Russell, who was his wife for many years. "He made delicious dishes, from Italian to seafood, especially soft-shell crabs."
He loved to fish and enjoyed running his tour boat from their home on the Jourdan River to the Bay Bridge, said Chorlet. "He loved the outdoors, whether it was boating, fishing or golfing," she added.
Russell, 67, enjoyed playing The Bridges, Casino Magic Bay St. Louis' golf course.
He was a timekeeper for the course.
Born in New Orleans, Russell graduated from St. Stanislaus High School and became a recognized Toyota troubleshooter for its dealerships. "My car always ran better than anyone's," said Chorlet.
