The Pass Christian School Board mulled over 24 applicants before naming Dr. Carla Evers the district's new superintendent.
Evers will replace Beth John, who has been Pass Christian School District superintendent for four years. She is retiring after 38 years of service with the district.
Evers heads up the department of instructional programs for the Gulfport School District. She will start work at Pass Christian in June.
The board chose Evers over several highly qualified applicants including four superintendents, five assistant superintendents, a retired superintendent and seven school principals.
