The Biloxi Public School District was one of two districts in Mississippi named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the United States in 2016 by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

The non-profit foundation recognized 476 districts nationwide, including Senatobia schools, the only other district in Mississippi chosen.

"In Biloxi, we try to provide a first-rate music education for all students," said Biloxi's fine and performing arts director Travis Coakley. "Receiving this distinction by the NAMM Foundation proves that we are working hard towards making this goal a reality and being recognized for our efforts."
