The deadline to submit nominations for the Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council's Youth of the Year Award is 4 p.m. Thursday. The award was created this year to recognize a student who has gone above and beyond in service to the Pascagoula community.
Nominees must be a resident of Pascagoula and be a high school student enrolled in grade 9-12. They also must be serving in an elected, appointed or leadership capacity in a student government, civic or scholastic organization; must have initiated change to better the Pascagoula community; and must not have benefited financially from volunteer efforts.
The Youth of the Year will be selected by the Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council. Finalists will be invited for an interview. The winner will be honored during the Pascagoula Mayor's Youth Council's Annual Report to the City Council and will have their name added to the Youth of the Year plaque located at City Hall.
