Local chapters of Students Against Violence Everywhere at five Coast high schools have received grants from the Allstate Foundation to support safe teen driving initiatives.
The schools are Biloxi High School, D'Iberville High School, St. Patrick High School, Hancock High School and Ocean Springs High School. Statewide, 15 schools received the grant.
Each of the schools will receive free affiliation with the national SAVE association and mini grant funds, educational materials, training for school and community activities, ongoing support, technical assistance for youth safety efforts and opportunities to partner with local Allstate agents to further the cause.
The Mississippi chapters will primarily focus on safe driving for teenagers. Student members will plan and execute safe driving campaigns, help students understand the dangers of distracted driving, and work on other issues such as conflict management, bullying and violence prevention.
