Vancleave student wins team-themed prize in MAE's annual Egg Bowl Reading Contest

The Mississippi Association of Educators announced Cheyanna Pierce, center, a seventh-grade student at Vancleave Middle School and Ole Miss fan, was the first of eight winners of team-themed packs in the association's third annual 'Be a Champion and Read Your Way to the Egg Bowl Contest.' Each student had to read six reading-level books and state whether he or she would be reading for the Bulldogs or Rebels. MAE randomly picked a student champion reader for each team. Each of those winners received three tickets to the game. The group also randomly selected eight other student readers and eight educators to receive the gift packs. Teaches and librarians also were chosen to receive money for their classrooms.
